Ex CPO(EW) Paul Blackwell (served from 1983-2006) goes all native


'This photo epitomises the fun I'm having out here and what its like being a true aussie. Taken during the World cup last year (with my mates off HMAS BALLERAT) we thrashed the Kiwis that night but unfortunately they beat us in the final...............oh well twas a good night anyway!

Come all you Gollies thinking of a change, come to Oz the RAN needs you!!!

  4. Not quite the same as you Paul but only a little hotter sometimes out here in the UAE trying to teach the Army some EW Operational knowledge along with Keith Wallace. Abu Dhabi just hosted a new F1 track so keeping busy all round.

  6. I served with a CRS(S)** Des Blackwell who was on FOAC's staff at the time: this would be 1961-63.
    In 1969, he was at HMS Mercury North Camp as "Reg" Chief in the Golly section. I wonder if you are related to him? I left the RN in 1971 but I did hear he was one of the very first Chiefs to be promoted to Fleet rate.
