'This photo epitomises the fun I'm having out here and what its like being a true aussie. Taken during the World cup last year (with my mates off HMAS BALLERAT) we thrashed the Kiwis that night but unfortunately they beat us in the final...............oh well twas a good night anyway!

ReplyDeleteI served with a CRS(S)** Des Blackwell who was on FOAC's staff at the time: this would be 1961-63.
ReplyDeleteIn 1969, he was at HMS Mercury North Camp as "Reg" Chief in the Golly section. I wonder if you are related to him? I left the RN in 1971 but I did hear he was one of the very first Chiefs to be promoted to Fleet rate.
